I'm Tania!

My approach to therapy is integrative, trauma-informed, and holistic, drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and person-centered perspectives. I view counseling as a collaborative and individualized process, where we work together to deepen self-awareness, explore patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and develop practical strategies that support meaningful change. I strive to create a warm, affirming, and nonjudgmental space, grounded in the belief that clients are the experts of their own lives and possess inherent strengths that can be built upon in the therapeutic process.

I work with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, relational difficulties, and challenges around identity and self-worth, with particular experience supporting individuals with body image concerns, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. I recognize that each person's story is shaped by the interplay of past experiences, present circumstances, and the relational, social, and cultural contexts in which they are embedded. Together, we can explore how these factors influence your internal world and lived experience, while also identifying tools to navigate challenges in a way that feels aligned with your values and goals.

I believe that healing occurs through a combination of insight and action: gaining a deeper understanding of long-standing patterns, while also building new ways of thinking, relating, and responding to challenges. I aim to meet each client where they are, moving at a pace that feels safe and supportive, while guiding them toward becoming more grounded, intentional, and aligned with themselves.

My Story

I was born and raised in California and am a first-generation Iranian-American, which has shaped how I understand identity, culture, and belonging. I moved to New York to attend Barnard College, Columbia University, where I earned my Bachelor's in Sociology. During this time, I developed a strong interest in how sociocultural identities, relational and environmental contexts, and broader systems shape how individuals understand themselves and their experiences. I found myself increasingly drawn to the depth of people's inner worlds, which led me to pursue a career in counseling.

I am currently completing my Master's in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at New York University. My path to this work has been guided by a genuine curiosity about people and their stories, along with a deep appreciation for the complexity of what shapes who they are.

In my time outside of clinical work, I enjoy staying active, exploring new restaurants and bakeries, reading mystery novels, and spending time with loved ones.
