WHAT BRINGS YOU HERE?
Often, it begins in awareness —
of a pattern,
an uncomfortable tension,
a subtle misalignment between who you are and who you’ve learned to be.

You may be advancing professionally,
developing creative work,
finishing school.
adjusting to adulthood and independence,
or balancing languages, cultures, and inherited expectations.

On the surface, you manage.
But something underneath feels unresolved.
That’s the depth we work with.
HOW WE WORK

At Mar Psychotherapy, we practice depth-oriented, psychodynamic therapy.
We’re interested in what shapes you over time - your attachments, defenses, inherited narratives, and ambitions.
Some parts of you learned to adapt early:
to succeed, to translate, to achieve, to caretake, to perform.
Those adaptations are intelligent.
They helped you survive and move forward.
But they may also limit intimacy, creativity, or ease.
Therapy here is not about removing what makes you strong.
It’s about understanding the internal structures beneath it - so you can live with greater flexibility and choice.

“Mar” means sea in Spanish.
The sea has a surface - and it has depth. What appears above is shaped by what lies beneath.
We understand the self with that same respect for complexity.
There is the outward life - work, relationships, achievements.
And there are deeper structures - attachments, culture, memory, desire - that quietly shape how that life unfolds.
Therapy at Mar attends to those deeper layers.
